Prada in the house.

Fortunately, before I opened the seam on this coat to get to the "guts" to make alterations I looked at the tag. Prada!  I am always careful but this will be careful x100.

hard to see but it is a Prada

back pack zipper

My client got this nice backpack but the zipper busted.  Who wants to buy a new backpack for a zipper, but you need it! I managed to get the bottom of the zipper out, re-thread the pulls, get the pulls back on and sew it back together.
Take that zipper companies who try to screw clients!

Bike case zipper/tear

This is one of those things you don't know how to fix.  My client had a beautiful bike case that had ripped fabric near the zipper.  It was raveling like crazy and he did not know what to do.  It was really expensive and you hate to throw it away. So I looked it and figured out  way to fix it.

You can hardly even tell it was torn.

New client

I am going to be making clown clothes now.  Charles the Clown needs some new duds.  This will be fun.

Little wedding suit

This is an alteration I did for a little dude's wedding outfit. Shortened sleeves and legs. The hardest part was the fitting. He was not into it.

not perfect but at least it works

This is a purse/backpack thing my client wanted fixed. Unfortunately, the zipper would have to be replaced and it was not worth it for that item. So I fixed the straps and sewed the zipper in a way that it would be an open bag on one side of the bag and at least look ok.

Embroidery saves the day

My friends son got married yesterday. Instead of something generic I customized a blanket for him and his wife. Here is a photo of putting their wedding date on fleece.

Not "knocking off" but "being inspired by"

My client loves these jeans but can't find them in the stores anymore, so I am making pattern to make her a new pair.  These will fit better and may have some additional style points

custom box pillow covers - done.

From drop off of fabric and foam to finished product.  My client needed zippered cover of foam for 2 custom cushions. She had fabric and foam. I told her what else she needed and she got it and dropped it off.

Almost done

I just need to meet with my client for final fitting and hemming. I love these.  I wish they were mine.  These will be perfect for any event where you want to wear something pretty and comfortable (and with an elastic back in case you eat a lot).

Getting there

Pockets cut and front parts sewn on. Front pleats made. Thankfully the patterns line up.  Not easy when I had to cut each front and back piece separately.  And the brains of the operation - my sewing machine

cutting is the hardest part

Talk about close call. There was less than 1" left on the fabric to lay this out. I had to lay it cross wise because of the beautiful pattern. But look how good it looks just on the dress form.

This is the pic from the pattern cover.

busy day

Today I am working on making a similiar (OK, a copy) pant for a client and helping a different client with a pattern she had made in Taiwan but is having issues with the vendor on.  And I am watching the RED HOT Seattle Mariners and one of my dogs and my husband in the background.

custom pillow covers

My client needs covers for 2 box pillows. She was going to try it herself first but she ended up coming to me. Sewing a square seems so simple until you realize it is not just a square. This will end up being lovely custom covers. Stay tuned.

what to do when the your client wants a "subtle" patch

put a modest skinny patch under it, glue it then put seam tape. Then fix the hole and after that, color the loose threads from the hole with ink from a matching sharpie.

More crafting than sewing but it works.
you can see the "scrape marks" from the damage

and with the closet color sharpie I had . . . way better!

zipper repair

This was tough. It is Samsonite Hard Case with a waterproof zipper and the zipper had come totally of the tape. I had to do a little surgery to the lining to get to the zipper ends.  But I did it.

Prince exhibit at MOPOP

I loved him so!  I now will be making something in tribute to his look. I am thinking lacey shirt with ruffle in front and pants with buttons on side legs.  He was the best
