Back to hemming (which is a relief)

Phew, something that is not as complex as re-creating rock star outfits for Halloween. Hemming jeans makes  me happy.

finished and in Vegas

This was a crazy finish this coat. I was so busy sewing I hardly could take photos. She has promised me some of her in it at the Lady GaGa concert in Vegas. Trust me, it is really cute and she looks hot in it. In my basement as I am madly sewing .... not as hot but that is ok.

Which Elton looks better ........

Selfie by Elton

Here is my client taking a selfie before he went out the door in his awesome Elton John outfit. I can't wait to see more.  This was designed as it was made. Of course, with more time there would have been some changes but I think it is awesome.

Feeling inspired

Although I enjoy all of the work I do,  my newest client is bringing me some really fun stuff. This is a dress she had that I will be "re-creating" (nice word for knocking off).  Hers is too small for her so altering it is not an option. And taking it apart to copy it is also off the table.  So I will be drafting a new pattern. I am so excited to do it I drew it in Illustrator just for fun.

Elton almost done.

Seahawks hoodie done

This was a design as you sew project. The hoodie in the pic (and the kid) were not the same as my client but I think I did a pretty good job. Here it is from start to finish.  I hope this costume gets him good treats.  And maybe is good karma for the Seahawks

Elton John Dodgers embellishment

First plan was to glue the cut off pilates onto the logo.  Yuck. Off to Joanne's and some sequins - way better.  It will be easy to clean it up and go from there.
Thank goodness for Elmer's school glue.

Updating shirts

My client has these shirts she does not wear because she dislikes some of the style and fit elements. I am going to do some basic alterations which should really update them.  I will put before and afters but right now, they are all glommed together on a dress form next to Elton John.

Last last minute costume

I hope they hire me to make this Seahawks head. It is super cute.

New Dress to make custom version of.

Love this dress.  I am going to make a custom version of it for a client

Elton John getting started

Lots to learn so I started with the first part of the top.  So far, I think it will work.

curtains to curtains

I just finished a "curtains" phase.  This client bought 8 giant curtains that were too long so I shortened them. Thanks goodness I have an industrial sewing machine as well as my others. This took a strong machine and lots of room.

mini paper pattern draft of lady gaga outfit

After much doodling and thinking, I have a plan.  The pattern will be a trapezoid of sorts.  There will be a front extension on the right.  If this is a go, I will do a muslin, fit my client, make a real pattern, cut it, fit it then finalize.
This little model is good for stuff like this.

Elton and GaGa updates

This is the Elton John Fabric.  Holy cow!  My client will slay it when he puts this on. Now I just have to make it. We had a great meeting last night and he had some good ideas about how to get the lettering on.  I can't want to start on it.

These are some lunch time sketches of GaGa jacket.  (very rough) Next step is to make a small one to fit on my little body form to figure out how it will work.

Another celebrity costume

While Elton's John's fabric is on it's way, guess who contacted me. Lady GaGa.  "She" wants a cape dress of fabric like this. And in less than 3 weeks.  Here we go!

new project

I love jobs like this! I am custom making my client an Elton John glitter baseball outfit for a party in 3 weeks! You can buy them but they will not be as super awesome and fitted as the one I will be making.
the kind you can buy in the store (Yawn)

the real outfit

colors are key

The vest - a success!

Here is my client wearing the prototype of the vest at a conference in Boston.  I am very happy it worked out and excited to make better versions!
